According to the official changelog, the Galaxy Buds 2 are gaining the ability to activate Ambient Sound during calls with the latest update. This will ensure that the users aren’t isolated from their environment when they are on a call. The Galaxy Buds 2 are also picking two new ANC (active noise cancelation) related features. Firstly, you will be able to turn on ANC for only one bud after installing the new software. This is a nice feature to have handy. Additionally, Samsung is also adding the ability to control the ambient noise level to its new wireless earbuds. Furthermore, the “Double Tap Edge” feature is coming to the Galaxy Buds 2 as well. It lets you double-tap the edge of your earbuds to increase or decrease volume. Introduced in the Galaxy Buds+, Samsung didn’t offer this feature on the Galaxy Buds Pro initially. But it later added the ability through a software update. It appears the factory-build Buds 2 lack it as well, but users will have a software update pending out of the box to enable it. Once installed, you can go to the Labs settings to turn on the feature. Double-tapping the edge of the right earbud increases the volume while the same gesture on the left earbud decreases it. Lastly, Samsung promises stability improvements that should allow for better connectivity during motion. The new update is rolling out with firmware version R177XXU0AUH2 and weighs 2.97MB over the air (OTA). It is currently available in South Korea only but it should be just a matter of time before the rollout expands to other territories. You can check for updates for your wearable from the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected smartphone.
Are Galaxy Buds 2 available yet?
Announced alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Flip 3, and the Galaxy Watch 4 series earlier this month, the Galaxy Buds 2 are yet to go on sale. Samsung isn’t even taking pre-orders for the new wearables in most global markets. But they will be available for purchase starting this Friday, August 27th, so not many days to go now. Meanwhile, you can check out our Galaxy Buds 2 review to find out whether they are worth your money. The earbuds cost $150 and come in four colors: Graphite, Lavender, Olive, and White.
