According to the Dutch publication GalaxyClub, the Galaxy A54 will pack a battery with model number EB-BA546ABY (device model number SM-A546). This power unit has a rated capacity of 4905mAh. That is marginally higher than the Galaxy A53’s rated battery capacity of 4860mAh. But 45mAh is too small an upgrade to likely affect the typical capacity. So Samsung may still advertise the upcoming premium mid-ranger handset’s battery as a 5,000mAh unit. We don’t see it mention a 5,100 typical capacity. Nonetheless, it may still make a difference in the overall battery life. A marginally larger battery paired with a more advanced and power-efficient chip should add a few hours to the phone’s endurance. Speaking of the chipset, we expect the Galaxy A54 to feature Samsung’s next-gen mid-range Exynos processor, the Exynos 1380. The company is developing this processor with part number S5E8835. The Galaxy A34 should also feature the same chipset. Not much else is known about the Galaxy A54 at the moment. The aforementioned camera downgrade shouldn’t make any impact on the image quality. Megapixel count is never the true measure of a camera’s quality. The output depends on a lot of other factors, including camera algorithms and software processing. This year’s Samsung flagships, the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+, both feature a 50MP main camera. We wouldn’t mind the Korean firm equipping this camera on the Galaxy A54 next year.

The Galaxy A54 will have another camera downgrade

The Galaxy A54’s camera downgrades don’t end at a lower-resolution main shooter, though. It will also feature one less camera at the back. Samsung is reportedly removing the depth sensor from its entire 2023 Galaxy A lineup. Perhaps the depth sensor may be gone for once and all. And it wouldn’t be missed either. One less camera on the back is likely what allowed Samsung to stuff more battery power in the Galaxy A54. So we’d call it nice riddance. Samsung launched the Galaxy A53 in March of this year. Its successor should arrive around the same time next year. That’s plenty of time for more leaks and rumors. We will keep you updated with all the latest information about the next-gen premium mid-ranger from the Korean behemoth.
