Let’s discuss the price first. The Fitbit Charge 5 will reportedly come costlier than its predecessor, the Fitbit Charge 4. According to the leaked info, the upcoming wearable will debut at $179, which is $30 more than Charge 4’s debut price of $149. But the added cost brings added perks as well. Along with a newer design, this year’s model also features a colored display as opposed to a backlit greyscale touch screen on the previous-gen model. It further gets an ECG sensor and many other new features as well.
Fitbit Charge 5 could introduce some new features
The video (embedded below) highlights a new Daily Readiness Score that takes into account various aspects of your activities and health parameters including sleep, heart rate, and more. It then recommends you the best exercises and workouts for the day. For instance, if you haven’t slept well last night and the Fitbit Charge 5 estimates that your body is not ready for intense workouts, it will recommend some recovery exercises such as yoga and meditation. Perhaps you’d want to sleep some more in the morning to recharge your body for the next day. Fitbit offers hundreds of different workouts that you can choose from. The leaked Charge 5 promo suggests this feature will be limited to Fitbit Premium subscribers. It’s a $10 a month or $80 a year subscription. You get additional features like guided programs, advanced stress management, a Health Metrics dashboard, personalized insights, and extra workout and mindfulness sessions. For an additional $45 a month, you can also a personalized action plan and a one-on-one health coach. The Fitbit Charge 5 also seemingly features an EDA (electrodermal activity) sensor, something that’s only available on the Fitbit Sense. It should allow for improved stress management. The rest of the Fitbit Charge 5 specs and features are largely unchanged. The promotional video also suggests that buyers of the Charge 5 will get six months of free Fitbit Premium membership. The offer will be available to both new and returning Premium members.
When will Fitbit Charge 5 launch?
Now, there’s still no word on when Fitbit could announce its next-gen fitness band. But the leaked renders earlier this month, as well as the Fitbit Charge 5 shown in this promo, feature an “October 23” date on the screen. That could be the potential launch date for the device. We will have to wait for more information to emerge for confirmation though.
