The Galaxy A72 is Samsung’s premium mid-range offering from 2021. Launched with Android 11 early last year, the device received the Android 12 update last month. It is now picking up the February security patch as well. The latest update is currently rolling out to users in Russia with firmware version A725FXXU4BVB4. The rollout should soon reach other countries as well, including the US. The Galaxy A52 5G and the Galaxy Note 9, meanwhile, have already received the February SMR in the US. Both devices are now picking up the same update in international markets. According to SamMobile, who first reported these rollouts, the latest update for the Galaxy A52 5G is now available in some Asian countries with firmware version A526BXXS1BVB4. The Galaxy Note 9, on the other hand, is receiving the new SMR in Europe. The updated firmware version for the aging Samsung flagship is N960FXXS9FVB1. Launched back in 2018, the device is gradually approaching its end of life. But Samsung is quite generous when it comes to software support, offering up to four years of Android version upgrades to its devices. That’s more Android on offer than Google itself. Perhaps that generosity is why it takes so long for the company to finish seeding the latest updates to all of its eligible devices. The Korean behemoth also releases way too many devices every year than most of its competitors. But it still tops them all with its software update pace. The company may still have a few devices pending the February update but it has already released the March SMR, which is remarkable.
Samsung’s impressive software game continues
Samsung has been impressive with its software game in recent years. It has consistently released the latest Android security patches to its devices ahead of other manufacturers for more than a year now. The company begins the rollout even before the new month has arrived, without failing. It has continued the trend this month as well, with March SMR already live for the Galaxy S22 series. You can expect more Galaxy devices to receive the new update in the coming days and weeks.
