Elon Musk is assembling employees for a hardcore new Twitter
According to The Washington Post, Musk’s latest email to Twitter employees straightforwardly asks them to confirm if they are staying with the company. “If you are sure that you want to be part of the new Twitter, please click yes on the link below,” the email reads. It links to an online form where employees can pledge to stay. Those who do not sign the pledge by 5 p.m. Eastern time tomorrow, i. e. Thursday will have to leave the company. They will receive three months of severance pay. Musk has made it clear that the new Twitter will be “extremely hardcore” in terms of work culture. He wants high-intensity efforts from all of his remaining employees, having already fired almost half of them, with long working hours for everyone. “Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade,” Musk said, adding that the new Twitter will be an engineer-driven platform. “Those writing great code will constitute the majority of our team and have the greatest sway,” the Twitter boss added. Musk has already ended remote work at Twitter and ordered all employees to start working from the office. The Twitter boss wants to quickly reshape the social network the way he visions it to be. He has already announced several changes but is finding it difficult to make those happen. A hardcore work culture is likely his plan to go about the plan. Perhaps this is the way he works and makes people around him work to achieve what he has achieved over the years.
Twitter may be finally on the right path
It hasn’t been smooth sailing for Twitter under Musk. While the platform’s usage is reportedly at an all-time high, conversations on it have degraded. Advertisers are also fleeing the social network as the fear of bankruptcy emerges. Threats of an investigation or massive fine are also looming large, with president Joe Biden calling Musk’s relationships with foreign countries worthy of being “looked at”. Hopefully, tomorrow’s deadline for employees to sign up for the “new Twitter” is the beginning of the end of chaos at the social network. Time will tell what comes next.
