We’re all so accustomed to yearly smartphone releases that, halfway through the phone cycle, we start to look forward to leaks about the next device. We’ve been covering leaks and rumors about the Galaxy S23 phones for months now. This is one reason why innovation in the smartphone market is pretty tame. A lot of the time, phone companies make minor changes to the appearance of their phones. The Galaxy S23 Ultra is expected to be a mirror image of the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Also, the Pixel 7 phones are pretty identical to the Pixel 6 phones- and don’t get us started on the iPhones!

But, Nothing wants to take his time with the Nothing Phone (2)

When Carl Pei first announced the Nothing Phone last year, he said that he wanted to do things differently. Well, avoiding the yearly release schedule is definitely different. Most companies release a phone every year, but Carl Pei took to Twitter to say that the Nothing Phone (2) is not coming anytime soon. In fact, the company plans on prioritizing the Nothing Phone (1). This includes supporting it with multiple updates and improving the software before slapping it onto new hardware.

However, something else is coming soon

The very next thing to look forward to in the Nothing community is Android 13. Just recently, Nothing announced that the Nothing Phone (1) was soon to enter the beta for Android 13. The closed beta should be up already with the open Beta coming in less than two weeks. We don’t know exactly what to expect from Android 13 on the Nothing Phone (1). The company didn’t tell us anything about the software update. However, once the beta program hits other devices, we expect to see what’s in store.
