Bumble may launch a forum feature called Collectives

A lot of dating apps exist on the iOS and Google Play Store, but only a few of them hit the mainstream. Bumble is a pretty popular one, and it’s been growing steadily. It differs from Tinder in that you can actually find friends and business associates on the app as opposed to just hot hook-ups. XDA Developers found the code for a new feature hidden in the APK for the Bumble app. Bumble calls this feature “Collectives” and it looks like a forum. Based on the screenshots, we see a grid of rounded rectangles with conversation topics in them like Study Hacks + Motivation and Working Moms. Under each topic, we see a brief description of what the topic is about. Even though the Collectives feature hasn’t launched yet, there are already about 16-20 topics up (that’s just based on the screenshots. There could be many more). This feature will definitely help people connect with others with common interests and engage in spirited conversation. The interface looks nice with the yellow rounded rectangles all stacked in rows. It looks like the rows themselves can scroll horizontally to reveal more topics.

How will this feature function?

When you tap on a topic,  the option to join that topic with a vertical feed of people’s posts below. However, you won’t see any of the posts’ contents. Instead, you’ll see the post’s title and the user who posted it. Along with that, you’ll see how long ago that post was made and the option to comment on it. When you tap the comment option, you’ll be taken to a pretty standard-looking mobile chat interface. Up top, you’ll see the contents of the post, and then you’ll see the slew of posted comments. The comments are all housed in large bubbles. Comments on the post are pushed to the end of the screen. However, replies to comments will be more toward the center of the screen.

When will this come out?

Bumble commented on this news and said that the feature is currently in testing. The company distributed this feature to a limited selection of users to try it out and give feedback. This means that the feature is in beta. We should get more information on this feature as it gets closer to an official release.
